About Us
A4dibble officially started in 2009, when Sue and Ian Symon turned their
life-long passion for gardening into a community-centric business.
Sue believes we should garden in harmony with nature, and has spent decades learning how to meet plants’ specific needs to be at their best. She can give recommendations for any garden, and her knowledge on sun, drainage, and seasons is freely shared with anybody who asks.
Sue’s skill at nurturing cuttings gives a second chance to the shoots that others may reject, and made her a reliable source of affordable plants and gardening knowledge for fellow hobbyists in the local community. With the support of her husband Ian, Sue started A4dibble Plants in 2009 to expand this service nationwide.
Sue and Ian love their garden and believe gardening should be for everybody. They exchange seasonal fruit and vegetables with neighbours along their street, donate plants to schools and green-space initiatives, and ships plants in bulk around the country. Friends and family stop by for a cuppa and a chat, to help out or drop off cuttings from their own gardens.

With decades of experience and many fellow gardeners they call friends, they’re able to find more uncommon plants that a large retailer might not bother to import or stock, and offer to hobbyists that large nurseries might not bother to grow for. That puts Sue – and A4dibble – in the position to provide a variety of plants that are hard to get anywhere else, the knowledge on how to take care of them, at a price that a hobbyist or self-employed landscaper can afford.
Since its official start in 2009, A4dibble has grown a lot. But it is a service grown from the Symon’s passion, first and foremost – its about sharing and supporting that passion in others. Keeping costs affordable is important, and A4dibble Plants is named in honour of that mission.
