Persicaria deserves to be grown more in our gardens, for its indestructible habit and attractive appearance. Plants form a spreading mat of deep green, leathery leaves, which turn bronzy-red in the fall. Short spikes of deep-red poker flowers appear throughout the summer, fading to soft pink. Excellent when used as a groundcover in either sun or part shade, especially effective around dwarf conifers. Also nice in the rock garden, or for edging. Drought tolerant once established.
